Here is a sort list of some of the books I want to read. If you have read any of them, feel free to share your thoughts {just don't spoil anything for me}.
Tonights blog is kind of a 'cop-out'. I spent way too much time watching items on Ebay this evening {Boots,boots & more boots!} & I am too tired to come up with anything clever to write about.
So, I have this word doc. that I keep on my desktop which is titled 'Books 2 Read' - I add books to this list as I run across things that catch my interest {or some books that I have always wanted to read, but never did.}
I thought that tonight I would share the current top 13 with you; • Cruddy By: Lynda Barry {suggested in a ROS blog} • The Mistress ManualBy: Lorelei • Pills, Thrills, Chills & HeartacheBy: Michelle Tea & Clint Catalyst • The Catcher in the RyeBy: J.D. Salinger • Cherry BombBy: Carrie Borzillo-Vrenna {suggested in a ROS blog} • The Bell JarBy: Sylvia Plath • One Flew Over the Cuckoo's NestBy: Ken Kesey • Mary ModernBy: Camille DeAngelis {suggested in a ROS blog} • A Clockwork OrangeBy: Anthony Burgess • White Oleander By: Janet Fitch • Paint it BlackBy: Janet Fitch {suggested in a ROS blog} • The Woman Who Couldn't ForgetBy: Jill Price • Rent Girl By: Michelle Tea
My list grows almost daily! lol. I do think that I'm going to get 'Cruddy' for my next read though. It sounds simply wonderful & it was recommended by Jared Gold.
I just have to scrape up all the cash that my new book addiction is going to require. Thank goodness for Amazon's used books!!! {My birthday is coming up soon though. Hint-hint. LOL}.
I am quite happy that I have the desire to read again, it had left me for a long time; but after I finished up Cottonmouth Kisses it all came back to me. On top of Clint's outstanding style, I think that all the blogs I read {and write} on Uber has helped to spark this desire as well.
So yeah, that's it for tonight. Thanks for stopping by. xoxo
I have read 4 or 5 on your list. I have usually 3 or 4 books going at once, depending on my mood--both fiction and non. I have a Sylvia Plath site/friend on my MySpace top friends. She can be really funny amidst her depression! (The Bell Jar). White Oleander is on my summer reading pile. I'm currently reading The Curious Incident that Happened in the Night with the Dog, written from point of view of an English autistic boy who decides to solve the mysterious murder of the dog next door.
I am a HUGE fan of Salinger,and have read all his books, but Catcher is the best, and then Franny & Zooey.
Ah! I have also just rediscovered my love of reading! Now that I'm no longer a student...I have time again! I've only read Catcher from your list but it's good. I don't usually have a long list of books to read. I find it really exciting to go into a used bookstore and just see what they've got to offer. My favorite store (in Pomona) is right by a concert venue, so I've gotten to bump into some cool musician folks, too!
I want to read the Bell Jar too- and Catcher in the Rye, looks brilliant. Don't know anything about Paint it Black but I fell in love with the song years ago.
Yeah, I've been wanting to read The Catcher in the Rye forEVER...My sister has it. Maybe I'll start today since I just finished a book yesterday! I love reading...it's the BEST <3
I'm the most terrific liar you ever saw in your life. It's awful. If I'm on my way to the store to buy a magazine, even, and somebody asks me where I'm going, I'm liable to say I'm going to the opera. It's terrible. ~J.D. Salinger, The Catcher in the Rye, That's ONE OF MY FAVORITE BOOK!The book of my life!
i can't discuss others books because i am scary to spoil you:) But you list of books is WONDERFUL!I think that i'll reread some of them again:)
